A little about me

I am a 4th generation Educator, apparently it’s genetic, descended from the Highlands of Scotland via Trans-Appalachia. I am very proud of my Scots-Irish heritage and the strides my family has made in the last few generations. Make no mistake about it... Education IS the Silver Bullet!

I grew up in the Midwest but mostly in Davenport, Iowa and graduated from Davenport Central (Go Blue Devils!) where a teacher sparked in me a belief which became a passion that has gone from a flickering flame into a warm fire. After graduating I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Bilbao, Spain and spoke Castilian but find myself slowly picking up Spanish. I attended Utah Valley University then called UVSC on a track scholarship. I graduated there and attended Brigham Young University. I earned my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and my Ed Specialist Degree from Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, ID.

As I was shaped and guided by my teachers both at school and in the community.  I began my teaching career in Payson, UT and we moved to Idaho in 2004. I taught in Emmett for 2 years before going on to teaching social studies at Columbia High in Nampa, ID. I was and still very much am passionate about showing kids new perspectives and ideas from past and present. My teachers taught me math, science and social studies but helped me see something in myself which I did not; that I am a person of great value and worth which helped me fan the flame of a desire to be the best in what I am doing and to work hard to achieve goals. That experience along with many others has shaped my belief that I can help students become prepared for a promising future.

After my years in the classroom I became Vice Principal at Nampa High and am now in my first year here at West Jefferson; a community that has been extraordinarily kind and accepting of my family and I.

I love my family and love spending time with them. I am married to a Wonder Woman, Annie and have three beautiful, intelligent and all-around awesome daughters, Audrey, Allie, & Lucy and love being with them. I also love spending “Man-time” with my two wonderfully handsome and sweet sons Jack and Cade.
